Cowboy When I was in high school I had the opportunity to join a group called Voices of Youth, which was sponsored by the Western Folklife Center in Elko, Nevada. Through this program I learned the art of black and white photography, sound recording, and digital video production. The project culminated in a traveling art exhibit. Through this program I also had the opportunity to document the Elko County Fair for the Library of Congress, produce a digital short film for the CineVegas Film Festival, and was chosen to speak at the 2000 Arts All Ways Conference. My work with the Western Folklife Center was nominated for a Governor's Art Award through the Nevada Arts Council in 2001.
Koala Immediately after graduating from college I relocated to Perth, Western Australia. I worked for a not-for-profit called Scitech, where I ran an outreach program and website called ScienceNetwork WA. I don't think any experience can compete with living and working in a foreign country. It was one of the most challenging things I have ever done, but very rewarding. The beer wasn't bad either.
Hibiscuis In February 2008 I traveled to St. Croix, USVI. I spent a glorious week sailing the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. For me travelling is an important part of life. To view photos of my trip click here.
Jenny Durnan Whether it was camping under the stars on a cattle drive or driving a 240 ton truck at a Wyoming coal mine I've been given the chance to experience life in a lot of different ways, which has given me a unique perspective on how I approach life and work. I believe in working hard, trying new things and taking risks. I think what attracts me to web work is how much I love being on the edge of new technology and solving problems. I love working in marketing because it gives me the chance to combine my geeky web side with my creative, strategic side.
